Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs
Thursday, 4/27, 7 PM
Caffe Lena is hosting a night dedicated to that essential 20th-century American music, the acoustic blues. Or, as they put it, an evening of “blues classics from the Delta, the Piedmont, the Paramount record catalog of the ’20s and ’30s, and pieces learned in the homes of the creators themselves.” Eleanor Ellis (pictured) is expert in the Piedmont and country blues. Bill Ellis is the grandson of bluegrass legend Bill Monroe. Andy Cohen came up during the 1960s folk revival, and is a “blues picker” on both 6- and 12-string guitars. Joining them will be North Country blues ace Joan Crane (accompanied by bassist Steve Feinbloom), an award-winner for her Delta and Piedmont style playing.
