Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs, Thursday, 4/20, 9:30 PM
Cabinet flaunt a style that’s proudly indebted to folk, country, Americana, and bluegrass. The seven-piece hail from Scranton, Pa., and are bringing their rootsy sound to the Capital Region’s mecca of such music, Saratoga Springs, on Thursday. Although the band play what many would consider jam music, Cabinet don’t seem particularly interested in self-classifying as such. Instead, they seem to embody the ‘good ole boy’ aesthetic by dressing like mountain men–though with a hankering for craft beer, given their pea coat-clad promo photo. Perhaps this is Putnam Den’s attempt at warding off desperate stoners vying for anything vaguely appropriate to suit as their 4/20 backdrop. Although, Banshee Tree, whom the Den’s website calls “a swingin’ experimental blues band,” are opening and that sounds like it might be kind of trippy.
