Problem With Dragons, It’s Not Night: It’s Space
Pauly’s Hotel, Albany, Friday, 4/14, 8:30 PM
Albany headbangers: looking for a cross between Pantera, White Zombie and Kyuss? The Massachusetts trio Problem With Dragons are just that and will be bringing their strange amalgamation of sludge, stoner and groove metal to Pauly’s Hotel this Friday. Their 2015 record Starquake is a bold attempt at cross-pollinating nearly every form of metal and heavy rock music of the ‘80s and ‘90s, and despite sounding like it was recorded in a tin can, it’s an admittedly intriguing selection of riffs that should translate excellent in the live setting. Steve Howe of metal blog The SludgeLord calls it “a loud and violent exercise in heavy riffs with a very dangerous addictive edge.” They’ll be joined Friday by two other stoner rock bands, It’s Not Night: It’s Space (pictured) and Grimer.
